Who is Silver Swallow Mercantile?
What began as a simple hobby—stirring oils, herbs, and scents into handcrafted soap—has unfolded into something much bigger: a women-owned business rooted in passion, purpose,
and a little bit of magic.
I’ve always believed in following signs, in listening to the quiet guides within and around me. Over time, those whispers grew louder, nudging me toward this path. And when I finally listened, everything seemed to fall into place. Soapmaking became not only a creative outlet but a soulful journey—a way to honor self-love while offering care to others.
As I perfected my soap recipes, curiosity led me deeper. I began experimenting with other products—at first, simply because I wanted them for myself. Whipped scrubs, soothing balms, fragrant mists… each creation started as something I longed to use in my own daily rituals. But as I shared them with others, I realized how naturally they complemented my soaps, extending the story of care, ritual, and sensory beauty. What started as personal exploration soon blossomed into a full collection—products that I am proud to now see carried at The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, VA.
The swallow has always been my symbol, a reminder and guide woven into my life’s journey. Across history and cultures, swallows have carried deep meaning: they were seen as omens of safe passage, symbols of loyalty, and messengers of hope. For sailors, a swallow marked the promise that no matter how far the voyage, all journeys would one day lead them home. I hold this meaning close—it feels true of my own story. Every step, every shift, has carried me here, to this moment, this craft, this calling.
Every batch I make is infused with that same sense of meaning and care. Each recipe is thoughtfully created, each product made with passion and intention. My hope is that when you bring these creations into your daily rituals, you feel the love, the grounding, and the quiet beauty they were born from.
I live and create in Middleburg, Virginia, a historic town nestled in horse country just outside Washington, DC. Surrounded by rolling hills, quiet landscapes, and a deep connection to nature, I find inspiration in both the stillness and the wildness around me. Nature and silence have been my compass, shaping the heart of this work.
This journey has been about more than soap—it’s about honoring yourself, embracing ritual, and finding beauty in the everyday. The swallow reminds me, always, that no matter where we wander, we find our way back—to self, to love, to home.
